Our client is seeking a number of Senior Systems Engineers to join its Engineering Team, based predominantly on-site at Ampthill, Bedfordshire. The successful candidates will provide systems engineering expertise across several business areas, including Special Projects and Platform Systems. These appointments will support increased uncrewed turret activity, providing subject matter expertise and strengthening engineering capability across their organisation.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead systems engineering activities throughout the lifecycle of large-scale systems development programmes
• Define, design and integrate complex systems with a significant software component
• Develop and maintain system models and simulations using MATLAB and Simulink
• Plan and support verification, validation and acceptance activities, including the preparation of Verification & Acceptance statements
• Assess engineering change proposals and support their embodiment into system designs
• Apply knowledge of communications and RF network architectures to system-level design and integration
• Identify, communicate and manage system-level limitations, behaviours, risks and dependencies
• Provide technical guidance and subject matter expertise to multidisciplinary engineering teams and stakeholders

What We’re Looking For

• Demonstrable knowledge and experience of systems engineering, including the design and integration of complex systems with a significant software component
• Strong experience across the full systems engineering lifecycle on a large-scale development programme, ideally within the Command and Control domain
• Practical modelling and simulation experience using MATLAB and Simulink
• Experience of the verification and validation lifecycle and the development of Verification & Acceptance statements
• Knowledge of communications and RF network architectures
• Experience assessing engineering change proposals and supporting embodiment activities
• A working understanding of relevant Defence Standards, MIL-STDs and recognised industry best practice.
• The ability to understand and clearly articulate system limitations and behaviours at system level
• Strong technical leadership, communication and stakeholder-management skills appropriate to a senior engineering role
