Amazon's Central Reliability Maintenance Engineering team (C-RME) is seeking a talented Senior System Development Engineer to advance our next-generation graph-based AI systems that integrate all services and insights vital for delivering world-class, AI-augmented maintenance practices.

As a Senior System Development Engineer in Decision Science and Technology, you will play a critical role in advancing AI technologies that enable our internal customers to leverage maintenance and equipment health data stored in our RME knowledge graph. You will collaborate with various partner teams and contribute to designing and implementing new AI solutions and system integrations. Your work will involve developing requirements for Knowledge Experience and Technology (KxT) solutions, working with Senior Scientists and Knowledge Graph Engineers to deploy systems processing data from various sources in real-time, and supporting end-users of your solutions.

Your daily activities will encompass strategic planning, architecture design, system development, and customer support, ensuring high-quality, available, and innovative graph-based solutions that meet business needs and enhance decision-making capabilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the design, implementation, and delivery of graph-based and neuro-symbolic AI solutions addressing complex customer problems, including developing new software, systems, infrastructure, or refactoring existing products.
• Translate functional and technical requirements into detailed architecture and design documents; lead reviews and post-incident analyses.
• Design and implement high-throughput, cost-effective knowledge pipelines for data extraction, transformation, and loading from diverse knowledge sources.
• Collaborate on graph traversal, query, and indexing optimizations to improve data retrieval speed and scalability.
• Contribute to the team’s technical strategy by influencing cross-team initiatives and working closely with Program and Product Managers.
• Drive automation and refactoring efforts, incorporating AI and ML components where they add value.
• Develop solutions to improve engineering and operational processes, reducing complexity and enabling greater agility.
• Analyze usage patterns of delivered tools and services to inform future improvements.

About the Team

The Amazon Reliability and Maintenance Engineering (RME) team maintains and optimizes technologies across Amazon’s global warehouses, utilizing robotics and high-volume conveyance. The Decision Science & Technology team specializes in advanced analytics and AI solutions, including predictive models and knowledge-based troubleshooting tools, to support scalable maintenance practices and enhance operational efficiency.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in large-scale data systems, knowledge graphs, or graph-based technologies
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and performance optimization
• Expertise in graph data structures, algorithms, and graph database technologies
• Leadership experience as a mentor, tech lead, or engineering manager
