Primary Details Time Type: Full time Worker Type: Employee We have an opportunity for a Senior Syndicate Accountant to join our Insurance Accounting function within the Syndicate Reporting team.

The Syndicate Reporting team are accountable for ensuring the integrity of the financial results and providing the business narrative over the balance sheet and P&L for the Syndicates, as well as preparing and submitting quarterly reports to Lloyd's.

We’re seeking a talented and driven Senior Syndicate Accountant to join our Finance team. In this role you’ll help shape the financial integrity of our Lloyd’s syndicates, delivering insightful analysis and ensuring regulatory compliance across quarterly and annual reporting cycles.

Your New Role

As part of a collaborative and high-performing team, you’ll play a key role in producing accurate reporting and meaningful commentary on the balance sheet and P&L for the syndicates. You’ll also play a key role in challenging results and data, contributing to the transparency and strength of our financial operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Review and challenge monthly and quarterly finance close processes, which include reviewing the Syndicate underwriting results to ensure accuracy, completeness, and alignment with business performance.
  • Partner with the Actuarial team to review the reserves movements in the Syndicate results, ensuring they are robust, complete, and accurately reflected in financial statements.
  • Produce high-quality commentary for senior management on Syndicate results, including late adjustments, bridging analysis, class-of-business (COB) reviews and balance sheet analytics.
  • Support the preparation of Lloyd’s regulatory returns including QMA, QMB, US, Canadian and UK tax filings for the syndicates, as well as contributing to the annual Statement of Actuarial Opinion (SAO) review.
  • Ensure the statutory books and records are maintained in accordance with QBE accounting policies and Lloyd’s requirements.
  • Participate in finance-related projects, including system enhancements, process improvements and regulatory change initiatives impacting financial reporting.
About You
  • Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, CIMA) or equivalent with significant experience in financial services within the insurance market, preferably with Lloyd’s market.
  • Extensive experience working in a complex financial services environment within Syndicate or Company Insurance Accounting teams ideally.
  • Strong financial accounting background, with proven experience reviewing insurance underwriting results.
  • Proficient in MS Excel (including pivot tables, IF statements, VLOOKUPs, and handling large datasets), with strong working knowledge of other MS Office applications.
  • Highly analytical with strong attention to detail, capable of interpreting complex financial data and producing detailed commentary.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to engage confidently with stakeholders across finance, actuarial, underwriting and external auditors.
  • A proactive mindset toward process improvements, automation initiatives and contributing to system enhancements within financial reporting.
  • Familiarity with Oracle and TM1 is desirable, along with experience using Lloyd’s-specific systems such as LCA, Xchanging, iXBRL tagging and market data collection tools.
