This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior Sustainability Manager to join our South-West business, delivering the requirements of our sustainability strategy on landmark projects in Somerset and Bristol.

The Senior Sustainability Role

The remit of this role is to translate our company requirements into action at project level and ensure that the interests and requirements of our client and project are addressed through strategy development, review, and implementation. Key responsibilities include:

• Ensuring accurate and robust data to demonstrate achievements and inform future direction.
• Being a visible sustainability champion across the business, ensuring a consistent approach aligned with the company's sustainability strategy, including themes such as Net Zero Carbon, Resource Efficiency, and Social Value.
• Participating in company sustainability working groups, such as the Carbon Task Force.
• Providing support and education to supply chain members to meet sustainability targets.
• Managing case studies to communicate best practices across the business.
• Providing sustainability advice during PQQ, tender, and PCSAs, including risks and opportunities, and presenting to clients and professional teams.
• Leading design and specification reviews to meet performance requirements (e.g., BREEAM, WELL).
• Delivering training on environmental management and sustainability on projects.
• Monitoring project performance and reporting against standards like Build Sure, and ensuring effective use of reporting tools.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

• Member of relevant professional body (IEMA / CIOB), working towards Chartered Status.
• Strong leadership skills.
• Experience providing technical sustainability support on complex construction or civil engineering projects.
• Excellent communication and influencing skills.
• Proactive in learning and development.
• Ability to manage direct reports and multiple projects simultaneously.

Your Profile

Ideally, your profile should include:

• Experience managing and mentoring sustainability team members.
• Maintenance of ISO 14001 Environmental Management System.
• Embedding sustainability requirements into commercial documentation and on-site delivery.
• Implementation of community initiatives and Section 106 obligations.
• Experience with environmental assessments such as BREEAM.
• Conducting site inspections and internal audits to measure environmental performance.
