Job summary

Group Lotus is seeking a Principal Engineer – Suspension to take technical ownership of the design and delivery of suspension systems for Lotus vehicles at Hethel.

You will lead the suspension team, ensure targets for quality, cost, function and timing are met, and collaborate across Vehicle Dynamics, Safety, Quality, Software and Manufacturing, with autonomy and cross-functional responsibility.

Qualifications

• A degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
• Strong knowledge of suspension design, verification, and components.
• Understanding of Vehicle Dynamics and suspension-vehicle links.
• Experience with PLM, CAD, and integration into vehicle architecture.

Responsibilities

• Take technical ownership from concept to production for suspension systems.
• Lead the suspension team to meet quality, cost, function and timing targets.
• Define system targets, specs, standards and engineering procedures.
• Track progress against plans and drive corrective actions.
• Lead cross-functional collaboration with Vehicle Dynamics, Safety, Quality, Software, ADAS, Manufacturing, NVH and Homologation.
• Develop and manage 3D data, 2D drawings and supporting documentation.
• Ensure validation through CAE, rig tests and vehicle-level validation.
• Identify failure modes, define countermeasures and drive issues to resolution.
• Support vehicle testing and development, including hardware/software debugging.
• Work with Purchasing on supplier selection and nominations.
• Maintain Bills of Materials in Lotus PLM systems.
• Recruit, develop and support team members; travel as needed.
