Job summary

Fraser Edwards Recruitment is recruiting a Senior Surveyor for a long-term contract in Harlow on behalf of a social housing client. The role covers surveying projects from inspection to completion, with duties including reporting, budgeting and ensuring compliance with building regulations and health and safety.

The ideal candidate will have proven surveying experience in social housing or property maintenance, strong regulatory knowledge, and excellent stakeholder management.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in a surveying role, ideally in social housing, local authority housing or property maintenance.
• Strong knowledge of property condition surveys, building defects, repairs, planned maintenance and refurbishment works.
• Experience managing surveying projects, contractors, budgets and programme delivery.
• Good understanding of building regulations, health and safety legislation and housing compliance requirements.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management with residents, contractors and colleagues.
• Strong organisational skills, attention to detail and ability to prioritise a varied workload.
• Proficiency in preparing technical reports and project documentation.

Responsibilities

• Manage and oversee a range of surveying projects from initial assessment to completion.
• Carry out property inspections, surveys and technical assessments identifying defects and maintenance needs.
• Prepare detailed reports, specifications and recommendations to support maintenance and improvement programmes.
• Monitor the quality of works, ensuring contractors meet specifications, budgets and timescales.
• Ensure surveying activities comply with building regulations, health and safety, and statutory obligations.
• Liaise with internal teams, contractors, residents and stakeholders to minimise disruption.
• Manage project costs, budgets and identify value-for-money improvements.
• Provide technical advice and support to colleagues and contribute to continuous improvement.
• Maintain accurate records and reports to support compliance and asset management.
