Job summary

Delta Housing is seeking a Senior Surveyor (Disrepair) on a 6-month fixed-term contract to support the Head of Repairs in delivering the disrepair surveying service. You will lead the team, diagnose defects, specify remedial works and manage complex cases, with a focus on compliance and customer outcomes.

The role requires building surveying expertise and experience with disrepair, building safety and regulatory standards.

Qualifications

• HNC/HND in Building Surveying or equivalent training and experience.
• Significant experience diagnosing complex defects and disrepair.
• Knowledge of building construction, pathology, repair methods and housing condition issues.
• Experience with housing legislation, regulation and guidance relating to property condition, disrepair, building safety and customer safety.
• Experience managing complex disrepair cases through to resolution.

Responsibilities

• Undertake detailed inspections and surveys to diagnose disrepair, damp and mould, building defects, structural issues and wider property condition concerns, identifying root causes and appropriate remedial solutions.
• Produce and approve technical reports, specifications, schedules of works and recommendations, providing expert technical advice to colleagues, contractors, consultants and other stakeholders.
• Act as the lead technical expert for disrepair claims, supporting legal proceedings, Ombudsman investigations, insurance claims and other formal enquiries, including the preparation of evidence and witness statements where required.
• Ensure compliance with all relevant legislation, regulatory requirements and professional standards, including disrepair legislation, HHSRS, Awaab's Law, consumer standards and building safety requirements.
• Develop, procure and administer remedial and improvement works, including preparation of specifications, contract administration, cost management, quality assurance and completion sign-off.
• Manage and monitor contractors, consultants and specialist suppliers, ensuring services are delivered safely, to the required quality standards, within agreed timescales and budget parameters.
