Job summary

Upfront Recruitment is sourcing a Surfacing Supervisor for a long-established North West civil engineering contractor operating in highways. The role focuses on organising and delivering machine-laid and hand-laid surfacing across sites in the North West, with strong emphasis on planning, productivity, and safety.

You will lead gangs, manage labour and plant, and ensure highway maintenance work meets quality and compliance standards.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in road surfacing, asphalt, highways or highway maintenance.
• Experience with machine-laid carriageway surfacing.
• Experience organising and managing surfacing gangs, operatives and labour.
• Knowledge of safety, programme and quality on live highways projects.

Responsibilities

• Run and manage multiple surfacing, resurfacing and highway maintenance sites.
• Supervise and organise surfacing gangs, operatives, labour, plant and site resources.
• Oversee machine-laid carriageway surfacing, hand lay and footway works.
• Plan works to maintain productivity, programme, quality and compliance with highway standards.
• Coordinate with management and site teams to progress works safely and efficiently.
• Maintain commercial awareness around labour, plant, materials and site performance.
