The Role
- Support the Nurse in Charge/Manager to ensure Support Workers and Care Assistants perform delegated tasks to a high standard.
- Assist Care Assistants, provide feedback on their performance, and communicate any concerns or positive outcomes.
- Support the personal needs of service users respectfully, promoting independence, including outings and skill development.
- Assist in maintaining the physical environment and daily activities of the home.
- Organize activities like crafts, games, reading, and outings to enrich residents' lives.
- Ensure the emotional, physical, medical, and spiritual needs of residents are recognized and met.
- Act as a key worker, encouraging residents to make decisions affecting their lives.
- Participate in Multi-Disciplinary Team meetings, hand over information, and communicate with outside services as instructed.
- Collaborate with families, maintaining confidentiality.
- Follow the leadership of the Nurse in Charge and work in partnership to ensure high standards of care.
- Administer and record medication as per documentation.
- Assist in assessing individual needs and developing appropriate Care Plans.
- Help carry out risk assessments and ensure their implementation.
- Support the Home Manager with staff supervisions and appraisals.
- Take responsibility for Health & Safety issues, reporting hazards.
- Assist residents with personal care, mobility, and disabilities, including the use of aids and equipment.
- Maintain high standards of food presentation, hygiene, and cleanliness.
- Prepare and serve meals, assist residents with eating and drinking, and clear away afterward.
- Inspect, mend, launder, and iron residents' clothing or supervise them doing so.
- Greet visitors appropriately and answer calls professionally.
- Assist professionals like nurses and physiotherapists as needed.
- Read and write reports, participate in meetings, and training activities.
- Follow all communications, sign documents, and carry out instructions.
- Report changes in residents' conditions to the Nurse in Charge/Manager.
- Record incidents and complaints accurately and take appropriate actions.
- Care for residents' property and home equipment, reporting defects.
- Maintain cleanliness and safety by cleaning spills and following infection control policies.
