Senior Residential Support Worker (EBD Children s Home) JTA ResidentialCare, Jericho House, Plaistow

Full-time Permanent Shift-based (days, weekends & waking nights)

Do you have the resilience, empathy and leadership skills to guide young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD) towards brighter futures? JTA Residential Care is an Ofsted-registered children s home in Plaistow. We re looking for a Senior Residential Support Worker (Senior RSW) to join our close-knit team at Jericho House and play a key role in creating a safe, nurturing environment where every child can thrive.

Senior Support Worker- What you ll be doing:

  • Lead the shift act as the senior practitioner on duty, allocating tasks, modelling best practice and ensuring consistent, child-centred care.
  • Key working & care planning take responsibility for individual children, write and review placement and risk management plans, and keep meticulous records.
  • Behaviour support use trauma-informed approaches, de-escalation techniques and restorative practice to help young people manage big feelings safely.
  • Safeguarding champion spot, report and act on any safeguarding concerns immediately, following JTA and statutory procedures at all times.
  • Mentor junior staff coach new and developing RSWs, contribute to supervisions and promote an open, reflective learning culture.
  • Partnership working liaise with families, schools, social workers, CAMHS and other professionals to keep children s plans on track.
  • Household duties maintain a homely environment, oversee medication, finances and food hygiene, and escort children to education, activities or contact.

Senior Support Worker- What you ll need:

  • Experience: Minimum 12 months in a children s residential EBD setting (or similar complex-needs environment).
  • Qualifications: Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or equivalent). If you hold Level 2 and are near completion of Level 3, we d still like to hear from you.
  • Leadership: Confidence to lead shifts, delegate fairly and give constructive feedback.
  • Communication: Clear written and spoken English for report writing and professional meetings.
  • Drivers: Full UK manual licence desirable (company minibus use).
  • Compliance: Able to pass an Enhanced DBS check and provide references covering the last 3 years.
