Senior Support Worker - Children's Residential Service (BBBH7272) Abertillery, Wales

Salary: GBP31800 - GBP34000 per annum

I have an AMAZING opportunity for a PASSIONATE and COMMITTED individual to join a children’s residential service in Abertillery as a Senior Children's Support Worker, supporting young people aged 8-18 years with emotional and behavioural difficulties (EBD).


**Due to the nature of the job and activities involved, applicants must have a full driver’s license.**

We are seeking an ADAPTABLE and ENTHUSIASTIC individual who wants to make a difference in young people's lives by helping them develop socially, emotionally, and behaviourally in a safe and caring environment.

  • Location: Abertillery (NP13 postcode)
  • Hours: Full-time
  • Shift pattern: 2 days on, 4 days off

Responsibilities:

  • Lead by example and support management during shifts
  • Mentor and support new staff members
  • Encourage young people to participate in activities and take responsibility for their lives, appropriate to their age
  • Maintain a homely, friendly environment in the homes
  • Handle challenging behaviours appropriately
  • Protect children and young people from health and welfare risks
  • Support their independence and well-being
  • Ensure a safe environment and stay updated on care plans and communication methods
  • Support challenging behaviours safely and sympathetically
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with staff, parents, social workers, and other professionals involved in the young people's care


Requirements:

  • Experience as a Children's Support Worker or with Young People is ESSENTIAL
  • Experience in healthcare or social care settings is ESSENTIAL
