Job summary

Panacea Children's Home is seeking a dedicated Senior Support Worker for 16+ Supported Accommodation. The role focuses on leading shifts, guiding staff, and maintaining high standards of care for vulnerable young people.

You will support the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager, monitor care plans and risk assessments, and act as a positive role model while building strong relationships with families and external agencies.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a children's residential care setting.
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare or willingness to work towards it.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead shifts and support the staff team on duty.
  • Provide guidance, supervision and support to residential workers.
  • Create a safe, warm and structured environment for young people.
  • Support care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans.
  • Promote positive routines, boundaries and relationships.
  • Complete daily records, reports and handovers to a high standard.
  • Support young people with education, independence and emotional wellbeing.

Panacea Children's Home is looking for a passionate, reliable and confident Senior Support Worker to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to make a real difference in the lives of children and young people while developing their leadership career in residential childcare.

About the Role

As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a key role in the day-to-day running of the home. You will support the Registered Manager and Deputy Manager, lead shifts, guide staff, and help ensure that high standards of care are maintained at all times.

You will be someone who leads by example, remains calm under pressure, and genuinely cares about improving outcomes for children and young people.

Key Responsibilities
  • Leading shifts and supporting the staff team on duty
  • Providing guidance, supervision and support to residential support workers
  • Creating a safe, warm and structured environment for young people
  • Supporting care plans, risk assessments and behaviour support plans
  • Promoting positive routines, boundaries and relationships
  • Completing daily records, reports, handovers and incident documentation to a high standard
  • Supporting young people with education, independence, emotional wellbeing and daily living skills
  • Helping ensure the home meets safeguarding, Ofsted and internal quality standards
  • Working closely with managers, professionals, families and external agencies
  • Acting as a positive role model for both staff and young people

Essential Requirements
  • Experience working in a children's residential care setting
  • A good understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • Ability to work shifts, weekends and sleep-ins where required
  • Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare, or willingness to work towards it
  • Previous experience as a Senior Residential Support Worker, Team Leader, or similar role would be an advantage
