About You:The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in a support worker role and a deep understanding of the challenges faced by children and young people. They will be committed to empowering young people and capable of building meaningful relationships. Additionally, they will work collaboratively with a team to create bespoke support plans tailored to each child's needs.
About The RoleWhat will I do as a Senior Support Worker?- Work under the direction of the Deputy and Registered Manager to contribute to quality care that promotes the health, welfare, education, and development of young people. Collaborate with the team to ensure the home meets all regulatory and statutory requirements.
- Take on-call duties outside of working hours to support the home in line with children’s home regulations and company procedures.
- Participate in the assessment process for potential new admissions.
- Provide supervision for designated support workers and night waking support workers.
- Assist in recruitment, interviewing, and induction of staff alongside the Deputy and Homes Manager.
- Support the Deputy and Registered Manager in preparing fair staff rotas that meet contractual and care needs.
- Embrace the home's ethos in line with Ofsted standards and the Statement of Purpose.
- Contribute to creating a nurturing, safe, and caring environment where children can develop social skills, self-esteem, and confidence.
- Engage in daily routines and household responsibilities, including domestic tasks, cooking, shopping, and supporting young people's appointments and activities.
- Support participation in activities and outings, including holidays and short breaks.
- Work professionally with parents, social workers, and other professionals to fulfill care responsibilities and facilitate contact with families where appropriate.
- Use effective care practices, de-escalation, and diversion strategies to manage challenging behavior, following company policies and recording incidents appropriately.
- Follow all relevant legislation, regulations, and company policies, staying updated on changes.
- Work towards or hold a Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare or an equivalent qualification.
