Job summary

Mears Group in Livingston is recruiting a Senior Support Worker on a 6-month fixed-term contract for 16 hours per week at £14.22 per hour plus mileage.

You will mentor care teams, oversee service delivery and support individuals with more complex needs, in a role that involves on-call cover and occasional direct care. Flexibility, a full UK driving licence and strong communication are essential; training and pathways to develop into a senior position are available.

Qualifications

  • Experience in the care sector.
  • Full UK driving licence and own vehicle access.
  • Flexible with hours and able to cover shifts.
  • SVQ Level 2 or higher is desirable; training provided.

Responsibilities

  • Support and guide care staff to deliver high-quality, person-centred care
  • Carry out spot checks, audits and observations in service users’ homes
  • Create and review initial care plans and conduct regular reviews
  • Attend meetings with social workers and other professionals
  • Monitor care standards and ensure policy compliance
  • Maintain confidentiality and safeguarding throughout the service
  • Report concerns, incidents and progress to line manager
  • Participate in on-call rota and provide cover when needed
  • Deliver direct care when required
  • Promote a safe working environment and contribute to team meetings

Hourly rate: £14.22 Senior Support Worker Location: Livingston Hourly Rate: £14.22 plus mileage between calls Contract Type: 6 month fixed term contract, 16 hours per week.

We are currently recruiting for a Senior Support Worker to join our team. This is not a standard Monday to Friday, 9–5 role. Flexibility is essential and will be reciprocated. You’ll play a key role in mentoring care teams, overseeing service delivery, and supporting individuals with more complex needs.

Role Duties
  • Supporting and guiding care staff to deliver high-quality, person-centred care
  • Carrying out spot checks, audits and observations in service users’ homes
  • Construct and implement initial care plans complete regular reviews
  • Attending meetings with social workers and other professionals
  • Monitoring care standards and ensuring compliance with policies and legislation
  • Maintaining confidentiality and safeguarding throughout the service
  • Reporting concerns, incidents and progress to your line manager
  • Participating in the on-call rota and providing emergency or holiday cover when needed
  • On occasion, maybe required to deliver direct care
  • Promoting a safe working environment and contributing to team meetings
Key Criteria
  • Previous experience in the care sector
  • A full UK driving licence and access to your own vehicle
  • Flexibility with working hours and a proactive approach
  • Strong communication and leadership skills
  • A commitment to delivering compassionate, respectful care
  • An SVQ Level 2 qualification or above is desirable but not essential, as full training will be provided
