Job summary

Salutem Care and Education is seeking a Senior Support Worker for a high-acuity complex needs service in Kenton, near Powderham Castle. You will lead a structured, empowering environment, delivering person-centred care and leading a team to support individuals with challenging behaviours.

You will apply positive behaviour support principles, monitor health and safety, and contribute to continuous service improvement in a setting with high needs and complex risk management.

Qualifications

• Experience in a complex learning disability or high-acuity behavioural setting.
• Ability to lead on person-centred planning, with health, wellbeing and autonomy considerations.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead on person-centred planning and maintain detailed support plans.
• Champion positive behaviour support and promote independence and safe engagement.
• Support individuals with complex needs, including health reviews and safeguarding.
• Ensure a safe, compliant environment with Health and Safety and Fire safety.
• Recruit, induct, supervise, and train staff with development plans.

We’re looking for someone who can bring new ideas, innovative techniques, and experience from complex learning disability environments, helping us continue to evolve and excel.

Experience in a similar, high-complexity setting is essential.

Here, you will work with people whose needs—and risks—are significantly higher than in standard care settings.

The right person will be motivated to understand the psychology behind the behaviours we see and committed to tailoring support so every individual can thrive safely, meaningfully, and with dignity.

About The Role

As a Senior Support Worker, you’ll play a vital leadership role in delivering outstanding, enabling care—creating a positive, structured, and empowering environment every day.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead on person-centred planning: Create and maintain detailed support plans that promote health, wellbeing, autonomy, and diversity while ensuring compliance with legal and safety standards.
• Champion positive behaviour support: Implement structured, flexible activity plans—actively seeking individuals’ views and using PBS best practice to promote independence and safe engagement.
• Support with complexity: Guide individuals in financial planning, medication self-administration, and regular health reviews, following the Mental Capacity Act and safeguarding principles.
• Ensure a safe environment: Adapt the setting to meet individuals’ needs while upholding all Health and Safety requirements, including Fire Safety.
• Lead and develop the team: Recruit, induct, supervise, and train staff—developing person-centred rotas and personal development plans.
• Drive quality: Deliver exceptional care aligned with Salutem’s Quality Assurance framework, core values, and incident management procedures.
