Senior Supply Chain Planner – Food Manufacturing

Location: Cheshire

Salary: Up to £45,000.00 (depends on experience)

A leading food manufacturing business is currently seeking a Senior Supply Chain Planner to join their supply chain team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced planning professional to take ownership of the production and materials planning process, supporting operational excellence and continuous improvement across the site.

The successful candidate will lead the coordination of production schedules and material availability, ensuring alignment with customer demand and manufacturing capabilities. They will also manage two direct reports and collaborate closely with key departments, including procurement, engineering, logistics, and customer service.

Key Responsibilities:

• Develop and manage detailed production schedules in line with forecasts and customer orders
• Ensure material availability and inventory accuracy using ERP systems
• Effectively allocate resources (labour, materials, machinery) to maximise operational efficiency
• Lead, develop and manage two direct reports, supporting training, capability planning, and performance
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to zero waste targets
• Participate in stock reviews, track performance KPIs, and resolve production bottlenecks
• Collaborate across functions to ensure seamless production flow and on-time delivery
• Maintain high standards in safety, quality, and GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice)

Candidate Requirements:

• Solid experience in production planning or supply chain within food manufacturing
• Strong people management experience, with a proven ability to coach and develop team members
• Proficient in ERP and planning systems
• Working knowledge of GMP, food safety, and H&S standards
• Analytical and data-driven, with a continuous improvement mindset
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
