At Leonardo, we have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Supplier Quality Engineer at our Southampton site. The Infra-Red Sensing Business and the Integrated Communication Systems Business are based here, and this role is key to their continued success.

You will collaborate with local project teams and the wider Leonardo UK Supplier Quality team to identify, scope, and implement improvement opportunities in the supply chain.

The successful candidate will be responsible for achieving quality performance for strategic suppliers involved in components and sub-assemblies for the Defence Electronics and Manufacturing industry.

  • Identify and implement IPT improvement opportunities within the external supply chain.
  • Ensure supply chain risks and opportunities are identified, mitigated, and exploited.
  • Ensure compliance with AS9100 Revision D, focusing on processes.
  • Identify and deliver internal procurement improvement opportunities to support delivery and cost benefits.
  • Implement Supplier Failure Review Boards to drive IPT improvements.
  • Support the implementation of the Supplier Surveillance Plan to maintain proactive supply chain management.
  • Assist with generic capability reviews in the external supply chain.
  • Handle ad hoc procurement and supply issues as needed.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree (or equivalent) in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, or experience in Defence Electronics or similar complex industry.
  • Experience in governance, AS9100 / ISO9001, and continuous improvement.
  • Good knowledge of manufacturing processes.
  • Experience producing key quality and supply chain metrics.
  • Experience working within project teams, balancing governance and support.
  • Proactive management of non-conformance in the supply chain.
  • Experience with tools like APQP, PPAP, 8D, PFMEAs, Lean, 5S, root cause analysis, DMAIC, First Article Verifications.
  • Familiarity with procurement disciplines in defence electronics and manufacturing.
  • Awareness of regulatory factors affecting the supply chain.
  • Ability to lead change programs in the supply chain.
  • Experience with quality auditing, preferably lead auditor trained.
  • Computer literacy, including SAP and MS Office.
  • Strong communication skills for delivering detailed information and presentations.
