Job description

Senior / Supervisor - Audit

Department: Advice, Audit & Accounts

Employment Type: Permanent - Full Time

Location: Godalming, Surrey

Compensation: GBP 50,000 - GBP 57,000 / year

Description

As part of the team in Godalming, you will be responsible for leading audits of small to medium clients, working closely with managers and juniors to deliver audit work on time and within budget. Your portfolio will be a mix of client industries, offering variety and opportunities for long-term progression and career development.

Key Responsibilities

  • Training of audit semi-seniors & juniors
  • Perform risk assessments and identify key audit areas
  • Proficiency in advanced audit techniques such as substantive testing and analytical procedures
  • Drafting & reviewing financial statements, audit reports, and communicating findings to supervisors or managers
  • Familiarity with industry-specific regulations and compliance requirements
  • Prompt completion of timesheets weekly
  • Complete staff appraisals for juniors within 1 week of audit completion
  • Prepare staff appraisals at the end of audits within 2 weeks of booking finishing
  • Ensure all team members regularly enter timesheets and client expenses are claimed timely

Audit Testing

  • Complete audit planning
  • Review work from junior team members and provide constructive feedback
  • Design audit tests across all sections of the audit file
  • Consider audit efficiency and testing methods
  • Deliver audit files with minimal review points and no outstanding issues
  • Coordinate with the tax department on provisions and returns, including completion of the L section
  • Draft comprehensive audit highlights reports summarizing key points for managers and partners
  • Audit completion tasks including review of forecasts with sensitivity analysis, challenging assumptions, and comparing actuals to previous forecasts
  • Reassess risks from planning to completion
  • Prepare schedules of adjusted and unadjusted items
