Job summary

Sword is seeking a Senior Subsurface Data Manager to lead the development of the subsurface data landscape for a client in Aberdeen. You will support Geoscience and Exploration teams with high‑quality, accessible data and act as a key interface between Geoscience and Data Management across projects and corporate repositories.

This on‑site role requires expert subsurface data management, the ability to advise stakeholders, establish best practices and governance, and to manage well and seismic

Qualifications

• Proven experience managing subsurface data within E&P environments.
• Strong working knowledge of well and seismic data workflows.
• Excellent communication and collaboration across Geoscience and Data Management.
• Ability to work on-site in Aberdeen and advise stakeholders on data standards.

Responsibilities

• Advise on and lead development of the subsurface data landscape.
• Manage client requirements for Exploration, Geological Well & Seismic data including data receipt, loading, conversion, transfer, quality control and archiving.
• Interface between Geoscience and Data Management to ensure alignment.
• Conduct data quality assessments and ensure data consistency across repositories.
• Deliver data management services supporting E&P applications.
• Maintain and update corporate subsurface databases and inventories.
• Support data lifecycle management and regulatory obligations.
• Provide guidance on subsurface data practices and standards.
