Job summary

Leonardo UK Ltd in the UK seeks a Senior Sub-Contract Buyer to lead sub-contract activities across production and development IPTs in the Combat Air sector. You will translate complex customer requirements into strong subcontract solutions, manage supplier relationships and drive risk-aware contracting strategies.

The role requires degree-level technical training, professional qualifications, and preferably MCIPS.

Qualifications

• Requires technical training to degree standard, professional qualification and/or significant domain experience.
• Demonstrated collaboration, communication, planning, problem solving, influencing and continuous improvement skills.
• Knowledge of Defence/Aerospace procurement practices or similar sector.

Responsibilities

• Lead sub-contract activities and procurement services.
• Manage relationships with Leonardo suppliers and review performance.
• Negotiate complex agreements and risk/reward models.
• Translate customer/project requirements into commercial documents for design, development and production of complex electronic systems.
• Identify and mitigate risks in commercial contracts.
• Develop robust contracts for services and deliverables.
• Collaborate with cross-functional stakeholders to flow down terms from contracts.
• Act as focal point for project/suppliers on contract and supply base matters.
• Lead strategies to influence project decisions throughout lifecycle.
• Propose solutions for risk/opportunity areas (IPR, liability, exchange rate).
• Promote customer intimacy in internal and external relationships.
