Job description

Contract type: Full Time (37.5 hours) – Permanent

Location: Stratford, The University of Huddersfield - London Campus

Salary: up to £35,000 per annum

To be part of the Student Experience Team and be responsible for coordinating student wellbeing, enrichment, and engagement within the centre. The post holder will be operationally managed by the Student Experience Leader and will oversee the Student Wellbeing & Engagement Officers. You will play a vital role in delivering the best possible student experience. The role acts as DDSL or DSL, ensuring safeguarding compliance and has the authority to carry out this specific part of the role.

ABOUT THE ROLE
  1. Responsibility for student welfare, safeguarding, Prevent, and Enrichment within the centre, including administration and record-keeping.
  2. Manage casework for student welfare concerns, ensuring fair distribution among team members, including meetings and reasonable adjustments.
  3. Ensure safeguarding in line with Study Group policies and procedures.
  4. Act as Deputy or Designated Safeguarding Lead, with authority to escalate issues and monitor safeguarding concerns.
  5. Create Support Plans, including Safety and Exit Plans, following approval and escalation protocols.
  6. Collaborate with other teams to support student performance and intervene as necessary.
  7. Maintain accurate records on Studygroup systems.
  8. Attend network meetings, deputising for DSL when required.
  9. Use data to identify improvements in welfare and learning support.
  10. Escalate concerns appropriately to leadership.
  11. Work with teams to ensure a holistic approach to welfare and promote inclusive practices.
  12. Maintain the Wellbeing and Welfare section on the VLE.
  13. Organise and deliver wellbeing activities and produce related materials.
  14. Support Student Ambassadors and engagement activities.
  15. Build relationships with the University Partner.
  16. Line manage Welfare and Engagement Officers, ensuring their development and motivation.
  17. Coordinate training for DDSLs and ensure regular meetings.
  18. Supervise Welfare and Enrichment Officers, including case reviews.
  19. Manage performance, set objectives, and conduct reviews.
  20. Encourage staff development and participate in recruitment.
  21. Contribute to the Student Experience and Wellbeing Strategy and policies.
  22. Support safeguarding awareness and policy compliance.
  23. Maintain quality and compliance documentation.
  24. Contribute to safeguarding reviews and monitoring reports.
  25. Participate in governance committees.
  26. Implement actions from Centre Action Plans related to welfare.
  27. Analyze feedback to monitor impact of welfare support.
  28. Assist in organising student induction, transition, and enrichment activities.
  29. Handle general student queries via face-to-face, email, and phone.
  30. Foster relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
  31. Perform any other duties as assigned by the Student Experience Leader or Centre Director.
ABOUT YOU
