Job summary

City St George’s Students' Union is seeking a Senior Student Returns Officer to lead the compilation and submission of statutory student returns, ensuring data quality and regulatory readiness across the organisation.

You will collaborate with Schools and professional services, provide expert advice on student record requirements, monitor risks and support audit readiness. A degree or equivalent experience and knowledge of SITS are essential.

Registry Services sits within Academic Services and is responsible for maintaining the integrity and quality of the University’s student records. The Senior Student Returns Officer plays a key role in the compilation and submission of statutory student returns to sector bodies, supporting compliance requirements while driving continuous improvement in student data quality, reporting processes and regulatory readiness across the University.

Working in a team of four to plan, compile and submit external student returns, ensuring high levels of data quality and compliance with regulatory requirements. Work collaboratively with Schools and professional services teams to resolve data issues, improve processes and maintain accurate student records. Provide expert advice on student record requirements, monitor risks, support audit readiness, and contribute to the ongoing development of systems and reporting practices.

Educated to degree level or possessing equivalent experience, with knowledge of student record systems such as SITS and an understanding of student data processes and controls. You will have excellent communication skills, experience of process improvement, and the ability to analyse and resolve complex data quality issues. Strong organisational skills, stakeholder management experience and a commitment to excellent service delivery are essential.

The selection process will involve an interview and an exercise. Further details will be confirmed at the interview stage. .In addition to the interview, candidates will be required to complete an Excel-based assessment. This exercise will provide an opportunity to demonstrate your ability to analyse and manage large datasets, identify and resolve data quality issues, and support the preparation of statutory student returns.
