Job summary

Oliver James Associates Ltd. is seeking a Senior Structuring & Pricing Actuary to help build and price life reinsurance solutions across Europe, the Middle East and Latin America. The role offers opportunity to work on diverse products within a dynamic Life Financial Solutions team.

The position requires robust actuarial pricing experience, strong analytical skills, and fluency in English, with potential base in London, Paris, Dublin or Zurich for an international, multicultural environment.

Qualifications

• At least 8 years' relevant financial services experience.
• Experience in actuarial pricing within life insurance and/or reinsurance.
• Knowledge of Solvency II; IFRS 17 and US GAAP familiarity.
• Experience in pricing tools and models.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to apply technical actuarial expertise with commercial considerations.
• Client-facing experience; fluent English; other European languages desirable.

Responsibilities

• Developing, structuring and marketing appropriate reinsurance solutions, considering accounting, regulatory and economic risk-transfer aspects.
• Develop pricing tools to analyse the risk and profitability of life reinsurance solutions.
• Undertaking high-level experience analysis to support the assessment of underlying risk.
• Contributing to deal execution, including responding to RFPs, negotiating terms with clients and brokers, and preparing internal approval memoranda.
• Supporting business development activity, including prospecting and client visits, and promoting solutions tailored to specific client objectives.
• Preparing and delivering internal and external presentations on life reinsurance topics as required.
• Contributing to the development of the wider Life Financial Solutions team and enhancement of Life & Health propositions.

1. Summary

An opportunity has arisen for a Senior Structuring & Pricing Actuary to join a growing international Life Financial Solutions team. The role will focus on developing, structuring and pricing life reinsurance solutions across the Europe, Middle East and Latin America regions.

This is an opportunity to work across a wide variety of products and innovative reinsurance solutions, contributing to the development of the Life Financial Solutions team and the wider Life & Health proposition.

2. About the job

As a Senior Structuring & Pricing Actuary, you will be responsible for developing and pricing financial solutions and supporting the growth of the business across the region.

Your responsibilities will include:

• Developing, structuring and marketing appropriate reinsurance solutions, considering accounting, regulatory and economic risk-transfer aspects.
• Developing pricing tools to analyse the risk and profitability of life reinsurance solutions.

3. About you

We are looking for a qualified Life Actuary with a strong actuarial background and relevant financial services experience.

You will ideally have:

• At least 8 years' relevant financial services industry experience.
• Experience in actuarial pricing within life insurance and/or reinsurance.
• Experience in pricing and structuring bespoke reinsurance agreements would be advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of Solvency II, including awareness of issues faced by insurers.
• Familiarity with accounting standards such as IFRS 17 and US GAAP.
• Experience developing or working with pricing tools and models.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• The ability to apply technical actuarial expertise alongside commercial considerations.
• Experience working in a client-facing capacity.
• Fluent English; additional European languages would be desirable.
