Job description

If you’re looking for a career where you will be respected as an individual and valued for the contributions you make, join HSBC and discover how diversity drives our success. Whether you want a career that could take you to the top, or simply take you in an exciting new direction, HSBC offers opportunities, support and rewards that will take you further.

Global Trade Solutions (GTS) comprises over 4,500 people across more than 60 countries, helping suppliers and buyers with their export and import finance needs. Trade is where HSBC began in 1865, when we financed commerce between Europe, North America and Asia. This role forms part of the GTS Structured Trade team in the UK, a key home market for HSBC, and is focussed on the structuring and execution of Supply Chain Finance (SCF) transactions.

We are currently seeking an experienced individual to join this team in the role of Senior Structurer, Supply Chain Finance (SCF). The base location for this role is London, however other locations may be considered.

In this role, you will:

  1. Support the promotion of Supply Chain Finance in Global Trade Solutions to senior stakeholders in the Large Corporate and Mid Market Enterprise businesses to ensure a flow of origination and requests for proposals;
  2. Support the Sales team with the origination of Supply Chain Finance transactions and lead deal execution through active engagement in client planning, customer pitches and deal discussions;
  3. Further build the UK SCF proposition by analysing our growth strategy across different customer segments and sectors and refining our proposition as needed to address the SCF market opportunity;
  4. Lead the preparation and negotiation of customer facing documents and indicative term sheets;
  5. Provide the detailed financial benefit analysis and supporting information for each customer request;
  6. Ensure that distributed client material is accurate, reliable and provides GTS with the best pitch material;
  7. Ensure that all pitch presentations consider the operational and regulatory impact in each geography as appropriate;
  8. Provide detailed analysis of SCF market trends, sector knowledge and competitors’ market position on an on-going basis;
  9. Act as a conduit of information between sales, operations and product to allow for standard SCF product documentation to be kept up to date;
  10. Engage and negotiate with HSBC approved legal panel firms when providing SCF solutions to customers.

To be successful in this role you should meet the following requirements:

  1. A demonstrable track record of deal structuring and execution in the UK SCF market with a positive and pro-active approach to seeking out new lending opportunities;
  2. Strong knowledge of SCF solutions and structures across a broad range of corporate customers across different sectors and geographies. Broader knowledge of other trade and receivables finance solutions is also preferred;
  3. Detailed knowledge of SCF legal and product documentation;
  4. Good knowledge of Sustainability and ESG considerations impacting on UK corporate customers, with the ability to consider and present this in relation to SCF opportunities;
  5. Thorough understanding of working capital management and related impacts for corporate customers – with an ability to transmit knowledge to the team and other stakeholders for potential cross sell with other cash management, treasury and trade solutions when assessing SCF opportunities;
  6. Very strong financial and analytical skills with a demonstrated ability to identify problem statements (pointing out problems, recognising important information, establishing connections) and proactively present solutions;
  7. Broad knowledge of relevant market trends in the UK SCF market as they impact Large Corporate and Middle Market Enterprise customer segments;
  8. Good knowledge of Asset Based Lending (ABL), Receivables Finance (on and off balance sheet);
  9. Proficient in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
