Job summary

Highbury Recruitment is seeking an experienced Production Manager for a busy fabrication operation in Norwich. You will lead day-to-day workshop activities, plan production schedules and drive efficiency while maintaining high safety and quality standards.

The role requires strong leadership in a fast-paced steel manufacturing environment and collaboration with design, commercial and installation teams to meet project deadlines.

Qualifications

• Experience as Production Manager or similar role.
• Background in structural steel/fabrication.
• Proven leadership of production teams in a fast-paced environment.
• Knowledge of fabrication, welding and steel manufacturing processes.
• Excellent planning and scheduling skills.
• Strong leadership and people management abilities.
• Good commercial awareness and problem-solving skills.
• Knowledge of Health & Safety regulations in manufacturing.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.

Responsibilities

• Manage the day-to-day operations of the fabrication and manufacturing facility.
• Plan and coordinate production schedules to meet project deadlines.
• Lead, motivate and develop workshop staff and supervisors.
• Monitor productivity, quality, safety and operational performance.
• Ensure materials, labour and machinery resources are used effectively.
• Collaborate with design and project teams to resolve production challenges.
• Implement continuous improvement initiatives to reduce waste and improve efficiency.
• Maintain compliance with health & safety legislation and company procedures.
• Oversee quality control to meet client specifications and budgets.
• Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors as required.
