Senior Structural Revit Technician

Are you an experienced Structural Revit Technician who enjoys getting stuck into the more interesting and technically challenging projects, rather than producing the same drawings day in, day out?

I'm working with an established, independent Structural Engineering consultancy in Leicester that's looking to bring an experienced Senior Structural Technician into its team.

This is a business with a genuinely varied workload, covering everything from bespoke new-build structures and complex refurbishments through to heritage buildings and conservation projects. They're particularly well regarded for tackling the sort of schemes that require a little more thought, creativity and attention to detail, rather than simply following a standard approach.

They've built a collaborative team of Chartered Structural Engineers, experienced designers and technicians, and they're now looking for someone who can take ownership of the Revit and technical drawing side of projects, whilst helping to develop the technicians around them.

For starters, one of the biggest attractions here is the variety of work. You'll be involved in projects at different stages, from initial concepts through to detailed construction information, with the opportunity to work on some particularly unusual structures.

There's also a real emphasis on sustainable engineering, particularly the refurbishment, adaptation and reuse of existing buildings. If you enjoy the challenges associated with existing structures and working out how new designs integrate with what's already there, you'll find plenty to get involved with. Importantly, this isn't simply a production role. The consultancy wants someone who can contribute to the wider technical delivery of projects, coordinate with Engineers, resolve detailing challenges and help maintain high standards across the team.

You’ll be taking responsibility for producing and coordinating detailed structural drawings and BIM models, using Revit and AutoCAD across a range of building structures projects.

Alongside your own modelling and detailing work, you’ll be involved in:

• Developing, coordinating and managing structural Revit models throughout different project stages.
• Producing detailed construction drawings from engineering sketches, calculations and design information.
• Reviewing and checking drawings produced by other technicians.
• Working closely with Structural Engineers to resolve technical detailing and coordination issues.
• Supporting the development of drawing standards, templates and standard detail libraries.
• Managing drawing registers and document control on your allocated projects.
• Providing guidance and mentoring to less experienced technicians.

You’ll have the autonomy to manage your own workload whilst having the support of an experienced engineering team around you.

Ideally, you’ll already be operating as a Senior Structural Technician, although an experienced Structural Revit Technician who's ready to take that next step would certainly be worth a conversation.

You’ll need a strong background in building structures, with good working knowledge of both Revit and AutoCAD, and the confidence to produce detailed structural drawings with minimal supervision.

Experience coordinating BIM models, checking other people’s work and supporting junior technicians would be particularly useful.

Beyond the technical side, they’re looking for someone who enjoys being part of a team, takes pride in the quality of their drawings and is comfortable discussing design and detailing issues directly with Engineers.
