Job summary

Buro Happold in Leeds is seeking a Structural Fire Engineer Leader to drive technical excellence and lead a high-profile team on complex life-safety projects. You will shape strategy, develop talent, and deliver innovative fire engineering solutions for landmark buildings.

We are looking for a Chartered structural/fire engineer with leadership experience, a strong consultancy background, and a collaborative approach to design challenges.

Qualifications

Master's degree or higher in Structural Engineering or Structural Fire Engineering.
Chartered Engineer or near attainment.
Experience leading structural fire engineering teams in a consultancy.
Experience managing structural fire engineering projects.
Experience designing and assessing current and historic structures in ambient and fire.
Experience performing fire and heat transfer assessments with elevated-temperature modelling.
Experience using SAFIR, VULCAN or similar FEM packages.
Experience writing and reviewing performance-based engineering reports.
Excellent consultancy, communication and stakeholder negotiation abilities.
Confident, proactive leader able to guide engineers.

Responsibilities

Drive market awareness, sales pipeline and business development for Structural Fire Engineering propositions and capabilities.
Take a lead role in project delivery for complex engagements, ensuring client satisfaction and ongoing relationships.
Inspire, motivate and support growth and wellbeing of the team in an inclusive environment.
As a UK Fire Engineering senior leadership team member, contribute to strategy, service, propositions and people.
Own the technical competence and capability development for the team within Structural Fire Engineering.
Work with structural engineers on exciting and complex buildings to ensure life safety and optimise protection.
Inform and support design aspirations, functionality and architectural form.
Represent Buro Happold at design team meetings, internally and externally.
