Job summary

The Abbey in Manchester is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer to lead design on a range of projects across steel, reinforced concrete and timber. You will carry schemes from concept through to delivery with client and contractor liaison in a well-established North West practice.

You are chartered or close to it, with strong UK consultancy experience and the ability to run projects end-to-end. On-site, full-time role based in Manchester with regional exposure.

Qualifications

• Chartered engineer or close to it with strong UK consultancy experience.
• Ability to carry a scheme from concept through to delivery and manage clients/contractors.

Responsibilities

• Lead structural design across steel, reinforced concrete and timber.
• Carry projects from concept through delivery, including feasibility to construction support.

Well as the central project type, not a side workstream that gets squeezed when budgets tighten. This is a Senior Structural Engineer position with a building services and engineering practice based in Manchester, with regional reach across the North West. Structural design across steel, reinforced concrete, and timber, with a portfolio that spans early-stage feasibility through to construction support. Tekla, Revit Structure, and Tedds or similar for analysis. Engineering judgement is rewarded, not engineered out of the process.

You are chartered or close to it, with strong UK consultancy experience and the project-running judgement that comes with it. You can carry a scheme from concept through to delivery, manage clients and contractors without rescue, and develop the engineers around you. Recurring themes on this brief: WELL, commercial, civic, and education. Prior exposure to those areas is useful, not mandatory.

Salary: 46,000 to 58,000 depending on experience.

Working pattern: on-site, full time, based in Manchester.
