A well-established multidisciplinary consultancy near York seeks a Senior Structural Engineer. You will lead diverse structural projects and manage client relations. The ideal candidate will have a degree in Civil Engineering, be chartered or working toward it, and have extensive experience within a UK consultancy. Overview

Job Title: Senior Structural Engineer

Location: Based near York

Salary: £40,000 - £45,000

This is a fantastic opportunity to join a highly respected, well-established multidisciplinary consultancy offering bespoke design services for a diverse range of projects across the civil, structural, and geotechnical sectors. The role involves leading a growing team of specialists in the structural design of commercial, industrial, health, leisure, retail, and residential projects near York and at other locations across the UK.

Responsibilities
  • Designing a multitude of structures across commercial, industrial, and residential developments.
  • Leading high-profile projects from inception through to successful delivery.
  • Forging, maintaining, and managing client relations across the public and private sectors.
  • Representing the company at design team meetings and site visits.
Required skills and experience
  • Hold a Degree (or equivalent qualification) in Civil Engineering (or similar, relevant background).
  • Be a Chartered Structural Engineer (MIStructE), or actively working toward Chartership Status.
  • Extensive relevant experience within a UK consultancy setting.
  • Experience of working with new-build projects, including good working knowledge of foundation and retaining wall design.
  • Excellent working knowledge of all structural materials.
  • Proficiency in preparing calculation packages and assisting colleagues with this.
  • Demonstrable competency in the use of TEKLA and TEDDS, as well as AutoCAD.
  • Extensive experience in the preparation of structural engineering inspection reports for a variety of building types and structures.
  • Knowledge and understanding of relevant technical standards, including Eurocodes.
  • Excellent communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience liaising with a range of stakeholders across the public and private sectors.
  • Sound knowledge of construction methods, health and safety protocols, legal regulations, etc.
  • Hold a full, valid UK driving licence.
Desirable skills and experience
  • Previous experience in roads and sewer design.
  • Good working knowledge of Revit software.
