Job summary

Zodiac Recruitment's Bristol-based client seeks a Senior Structural Engineer to lead delivery of UK projects, manage design, liaise with clients and coordinate across disciplines. You will mentor junior engineers and take ownership from inception to completion.

Requirements include a degree in structural engineering (MEng/BEng), 5+ years UK experience, ideally chartered with IStructE, AutoCAD literacy, and proficiency in 3D analysis tools. Driving license preferred.

• Degree in Structural engineering (MEng or BEng).
• 5+ years of experience working as a Structural Engineer in the UK.
• Ideally chartered with the IStructE or working towards it.
• Driving license preferable.
• AutoCAD literate (Revit experience beneficial but not essential).
• Strong capability in 3D structural analysis and design software (ideally Tekla Structural Designer, TEDDS).
• Experience undertaking structural inspections and preparing technical reports.
• A broad knowledge of structural design across common construction materials.

Responsibilities

• Lead the delivery of structural engineering projects of varying scales, from feasibility through to construction.
• Manage client relationships and act as the main point of contact on allocated projects.
• Supervise, mentor and review the work of junior engineers and technicians.
• Prepare and check structural calculations, design packages and specifications.
• Coordinate design input across multidisciplinary teams and external stakeholders.
• Attend and lead site visits, design meetings and project reviews.
• Contribute to technical discussions within the office, sharing knowledge and promoting best practice.
• Support Directors and Associates in developing new business opportunities and maintaining high professional standards.

Role: Senior Structural Engineer

Salary: £45,000- £55,000

Our client is an owner-managed engineering consultancy located in Bristol. They are a small, yet growing team of around 15 people, specialising in a wide range of civil and structural engineering projects, including public realm schemes, new highways and junction upgrades, active travel schemes, residential developments, high-tech industrial and distribution developments, schools, and commercial units.

About the role

They are seeking a Senior Structural Engineer with proven experience delivering projects within the UK. The successful candidate will lead on a range of schemes, managing design delivery, client liaison and project coordination from inception through to completion. You will take ownership of projects, support and mentor junior engineers, and play a key role in the continued growth of the business.

Location & commitments

• Work will be based at the Bristol office.
• 37.5 hours per week.
• Flexible working is possible after the probationary period.
