Up to £56,000 (depending on experience)

Overview

Senior Engineers form the core of the engineering department and are responsible for executing daily design developments throughout the design process.

The Senior Engineer role is primarily hands-on, focusing on analysis and design within the Civil and Structural department, often collaborating with other engineering disciplines in the project team.

This role also includes shared managerial duties concerning Graduates, Apprentices, and/or Designers as needed.

Key Accountabilities

1. Preparation of design documentation, including technical specifications, risk assessments, method statements, technical files, and other safety-related documentation.
2. Review and development of optioneering studies.
3. Design development to meet technical specifications.
4. Supporting design calculations to validate designs.
5. Reviewing bespoke design calculations.
6. Creating Basis of Design documents, substantiation reports, and conducting hands-on analysis.
7. Participating in design reviews.
8. Drafting technical specifications and safety documentation.

Duties and Requirements

1. Strong understanding of structural engineering fundamentals, safety legislation, and statutory regulations.
2. Experience in designing reinforced concrete and structural steel structures.
3. Bridge design experience adhering to Eurocode standards.
4. Proficiency in structural analysis software such as STAAD and Autodesk ROBOT.
5. Proven competence in a design delivery role.
6. Ability to meet tight deadlines.
7. Excellent teamwork, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
8. Recognized engineering qualification (HNC / HND / Degree).
9. Nuclear or highly regulated industry experience.
10. Experience in supervision or mentoring roles.
