Description Of The Assignment

Senior Structural Engineers make up the core of the engineering department and are responsible for managing the day-to-day development of designs throughout the design process.

The Senior Structural Engineer role is primarily hands-on, involving analysis and design within the Civil & Structural department, often collaborating with other engineering disciplines in the project team.

This role also includes shared managerial responsibilities concerning Graduates, Apprentices, and Designers, as needed.

Applicants considered for this position should be performing functions above those of a Design Engineer.

Reports to

Principal Engineer

Key Accountabilities

1. Preparation of design documentation throughout the design process
2. Development of designs to meet technical specifications
3. Preparation of supporting design calculations
4. Participation in design reviews
5. Preparation of technical specifications and risk assessments
6. Preparation of technical files and documentation required by safety legislation

Occupational Skills And Knowledge

• Recognised Engineering qualification such as HNC, HND, or Degree

Essential Skills

• Knowledge of structures and foundations using Reinforced Concrete and Structural Steel
• Design experience with Reinforced Concrete and Structural Steel
• Understanding of Structural steel connections and connection types
• Proven competence in a design delivery role
• Ability to meet tight deadlines
• Strong team player

Desirable Skills

• Nuclear industry experience or experience in a highly regulated sector
• Full UK driving license and willingness to travel occasionally
• Supervisory experience
