Job Title: Senior Structural Engineer

The Role
As a Senior Structural Engineer, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You will create significant value by leveraging your skills and experience to lead yourself and others in the qualification of outstanding in-design, and in-service solutions.

Day-to-day, you’ll perform the origination and checking of stress analysis calculations, finite element analysis, and reports in relation to the qualification of submarine and surface ship component resistance to shock, vibration, fatigue, and pressure loading in accordance with the relevant design codes and customer-agreed analysis methodologies.

  • Perform the origination and checking of analysis calculations, finite element analysis, and reports on time and within budget.
  • Support the definition of analysis work package scope and costing.
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders by reporting low strength reserve factors and assist in the proposal of alternative design solutions.
  • Support the development of junior colleagues.

This role is full time, 37 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements.

Essential Experience of the Senior Structural Engineer

  • Experience in origination and checking of stress analysis hand calculations
  • Experience in origination and checking of stress finite element modelling and analysis, and proficiency in the use of FEA software

Qualifications for the Senior Structural Engineer

  • Degree qualified in a relevant technical discipline.

Security Clearance
The successful candidate must be a sole UK national who is able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role. However, the successful candidate can start on Standard (BPSS) security clearance but will need to obtain and achieve Security Check (SC) security clearance.
