Calibre Search is seeking a Senior Structural Engineer for its Birmingham Building Structures team. You will lead the design and delivery of a variety of building projects, collaborating with Architects, M&E and Civil Engineers, while mentoring junior staff and coordinating with clients.
You will work on education, commercial and residential schemes, with exposure to refurbishment and specialist projects.
Fancy working on some genuinely interesting Building Structures projects, with the backing of one of the biggest engineering consultancies in the world, without sacrificing your work-life balance?
We're working with a major international engineering consultancy that's looking to appoint a Senior Structural Engineer within its established and highly regarded Birmingham Building Structures team.
This is a business with an outstanding reputation across the engineering industry, delivering everything from major commercial and residential developments through to complex education, defence, energy and transport projects. They're involved in some of the UK's most significant building and infrastructure schemes, and their multidisciplinary approach means there's plenty of opportunity to work on projects that go well beyond traditional structural design.
Their Birmingham office is right in the heart of the city centre, just a short walk from Birmingham New Street station, making it particularly convenient for anyone commuting by train from across the Midlands. They also offer hybrid and flexible working, giving you a good balance between being part of a collaborative office environment and working from home.
There are plenty of Structural Engineering consultancies out there, but few can offer the same combination of project variety, technical expertise, career development and long-term stability as this business.
You’ll be joining an award-winning Building Structures team with a strong pipeline of work across a broad range of sectors. One week you could be working on a major education or commercial development, the next a technically challenging refurbishment, residential scheme or specialist building within the energy or defence sector.
The variety is a real selling point, particularly if you're currently working somewhere where the projects have become a little repetitive.
You’ll also have access to an extensive network of Engineers and technical specialists across the UK and internationally. Whether you're looking to develop your expertise in complex structural design, sustainable construction, digital engineering or project leadership, there are people within the business who can help you get there.
Despite the size of the organisation, the Birmingham team offers the opportunity to take genuine ownership of projects, build relationships with clients and have a real influence over the work you're delivering.
It's a particularly attractive move for a Structural Engineer who enjoys the technical side of the job but wants to develop their project management, commercial and leadership experience alongside it.
This is a varied Senior Structural Engineer position, combining hands-on design with project delivery, client engagement and supporting more junior members of the team.
You’ll take responsibility for delivering building structures projects from initial concept through to construction, working closely with Architects, Contractors and other engineering disciplines.
You’ll be given the freedom to manage your own workload and take responsibility for decisions, but with the reassurance of having an experienced leadership team and wider technical network behind you.
Ideally, you'll already be working at Senior Structural Engineer level within a building structures consultancy, although we'd also be interested in speaking with experienced Structural Engineers who feel ready to take that next step.
Joining a business of this size brings some significant advantages, particularly when it comes to career development, benefits and the breadth of opportunities available.
If you're a Structural Engineer who enjoys working on a variety of building projects and wants to join a business where you'll be supported, challenged and given room to progress, this could be a really good move.
Equally, if you're currently with a smaller consultancy and fancy experiencing the scale, resources and project opportunities that come with a major international practice, it's certainly worth a conversation.
