Job summary

Qualifications

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng or MEng) with consultancy experience.
• Chartered Engineer (CEng) or working towards Chartership with Engineers Ireland, IStructE or ICE.
• Knowledge of Eurocodes, AutoCAD and structural design software; MasterSeries, Tedds or Revit is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Deliver structural designs across a wide range of projects using Eurocodes and industry best practice.
• Support project delivery from concept through construction, focusing on quality, programme and budget.
• Engage with clients, architects, contractors, and authorities to develop practical engineering solutions.
• Contribute to site inspections, contract administration and technical reporting.
• Collaborate with national engineering teams and take ownership of professional development.

Purpose & Scope of the Role

As a Senior/Principal Structural Engineer, you will play a key role in delivering innovative structural engineering solutions across a wide range of projects. Working within a multidisciplinary team, you will contribute to every stage of project delivery, from concept design through to construction, ensuring technical excellence, quality and programme commitments are achieved while supporting the continued growth of the team.

Your Impact in this Position

You'll apply your technical expertise to deliver structural designs, support project delivery on time and within budget, and contribute to contract administration, site inspections and technical reporting. Working closely with clients, architects, contractors, consultants and statutory authorities, you'll help develop practical engineering solutions while collaborating across Tetra Tech's national engineering teams.

Technical Excellence: Deliver high-quality structural engineering designs using relevant design standards and industry best practice.Apply sound engineering judgement to complex technical challenges.

Project Delivery: Support the successful delivery of projects to programme, budget and quality expectations.Maintain compliance with quality management systems and project procedures.

Collaboration & Client Focus: Build strong relationships with clients and project stakeholders.Work effectively within multidisciplinary teams across regional and national projects.

Communication & Professionalism: Produce clear technical reports and communicate confidently with stakeholders at all levels.Demonstrate professionalism, accountability and attention to detail.

Continuous Development: Take ownership of your professional development and contribute to a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

Training, Qualifications & Experience

Degree-qualified in Civil or Structural Engineering (BEng or MEng) with consultancy experience in structural design. Chartered, or working towards Chartership with Engineers Ireland, IStructE or ICE. Knowledge of Eurocodes, AutoCAD and structural design software is essential, with experience of MasterSeries, Tedds or Revit advantageous.

Based in our Belfast office, this role offers a flexible hybrid working model, combining office, home and site-based working. You'll collaborate closely with local and national teams while benefiting from flexible working arrangements that support both project delivery and work-life balance.
