Our Structural Design team develops innovative designs, from concept level through to detailed design, and from small studies to large-scale multi-discipline EPC projects. This typically involves developing 3D models, producing drawings, and conducting surveys when required.

Apollo is currently recruiting a Principal Structural Designer to join our team in our central Aberdeen offices, helping to drive the team on a varied and interesting range of projects. A key part of the role is contributing your valued design experience to the team.

Accountability, Roles, and Responsibilities

• Assist in leading Apollo’s designers using your technical expertise and experience in managing drafting projects.
• Help prepare and deliver engineering drawings and associated documents, compliant with all applicable standards, in collaboration with the engineering team.
• Innovate in design work, minimizing costs while maintaining technical integrity.
• Participate in internal and external design reviews.
• Perform your duties to the best of your ability, in compliance with Apollo’s HSEQ processes and procedures.
• Work within a multi-disciplinary engineering team, including engineers and designers of all experience levels.
• Ensure the timely delivery of all structural designs.
• Prepare estimates and schedules, and assist in their review.
• Maintain good communication with colleagues across all Apollo offices.
• Manage workload and report project progress.

Qualifications

• HND in Mechanical/Structural Engineering or an academic equivalent.
• Proficient in the use of Autodesk suite (e.g., AutoCAD, Inventor) with recent project experience. Experience with Aveva suite (e.g., PDMS or E3D) is beneficial.
• Practical experience in offshore structural steel design and a detailed understanding of site construction.
• Proficient in producing and checking design drawings suitable for fabrication.
• Good understanding of structural connection details.
• Current Offshore Survival and Medical certifications are preferred.
