Job summary

Aspion Search represents a steel construction company in their search for a Senior Structural Design Engineer to join their design team in Bradford. The role offers £50,000 - £60,000 depending on experience and a busy pipeline of high profile projects.

You will deliver high quality steelframe designs, run manual and software calculations to British and Eurocode standards, and collaborate with architects, subcontractors and clients while mentoring junior engineers.

Qualifications

• Degree in Structural or Civil Engineering; Chartered status encouraged.
• Minimum 8 years’ UK-based structural steel design experience.
• Experience with a UK-based steelwork fabricator is preferred.
• Proven ability in steelwork frame and connection design.
• Knowledge of British and European design standards.
• Ability to perform both manual and software-based calculations.
• Temporary works design experience is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Deliver high quality structural designs for steel frameworks and complex connections.
• Conduct manual and software-based calculations to British and Eurocode standards.
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients throughout project lifecycles.
• Maintain effective client relationships to support repeat business and referrals.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members.
• Attend design meetings and contribute to technical discussions.

The Role of the Senior Structural Design Engineer:

They are looking to strengthen their design team with a Senior Structural Design Engineer to take on high profile and complex structural projects.

Here’s how:

• Deliver high quality structural designs for steel frameworks and complex connections
• Conduct manual and software-based calculations to British and Eurocode standards
• Collaborate with architects, engineers, subcontractors, and clients throughout project lifecycles
• Maintain effective client relationships to support repeat business and referrals
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior team members
• Attend design meetings and contribute to technical discussions

Requirements of the Senior Structural Design Engineer:

• Degree qualified in Structural or Civil Engineering (ideally working toward Chartered status)
• Minimum 8 years’ experience in UK based structural steel design
• Previous experience with a UK based steelwork fabricator
• Proven experience in steelwork frame and connection design
• Proficient in Tekla Structural Designer, Masterseries, S-Frame, IDEA StatiCa
• Knowledge of British and European design standards
• Confident producing both manual and software-based calculations
• Experience in temporary works design (desirable)
