Job Description:

Senior Structural Design Engineer

RPS is currently seeking a Senior Structural Design Engineer to join our Structures Team.

About The Design Business: RPS Design Division delivers projects across multiple sectors including residential, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, manufacturing, data centres, energy, and more. We focus on balancing form and function, considering sustainability, materiality, cost, and constructability. Digitalisation is central to our delivery, enabling clients to experience designs from concept through detailed drawings, supported by decades of expertise across industries and disciplines.

What you’ll be doing: This role offers an opportunity for career progression within our industry-leading team, renowned for excellence across the built environment sectors.

Duties Include:

  • Assist leadership in managing the structural engineering team
  • Manage projects and project teams independently
  • Handle financial responsibilities for your projects
  • Prepare fee quotations and invoicing
  • Manage staff and external consultants
  • Develop the engineering and technical team
  • Collaborate with senior stakeholders and clients
  • Conduct site visits, structural surveys, investigations, and repairs for issues like fires or foundation problems

Who we’re looking for: You should have a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, with chartership with ICE, IStructE, or equivalent, or be working towards it.

Additionally, you will:

  • Be experienced in designing foundations, masonry, concrete, steel, and timber structures to eurocodes
  • Have experience in residential markets, including traditional and framed structures
  • Possess market awareness, financial management skills, and client development experience
  • Be experienced in structural investigations for residential and commercial properties, including familiarity with the Building Safety Act
  • Be proficient with Tekla (Tekla Designer, Tedds), and ideally AutoCAD/Revit
  • Show leadership skills and management experience
  • Be decisive, motivated, innovative, and autonomous
