Job summary

AVENTA is seeking a Senior Structural Design Engineer to lead 3D modelling and fabrication drawings for offshore platforms, jackets and foundations across oil, gas, wind and CCUS projects. Based in Greater London, you will collaborate with discipline engineers and fabrication specialists to ensure designs are constructible and installable from concept to construction.

Qualifications

• Requires degree or equivalent in engineering with a focus on structural/mechanical design.
• 5–10 years of structural drafting and 3D modelling in offshore energy, following API/EN/ISO/DNV/WSP codes.
• Proven hands-on offshore jacket/platform design experience is essential.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed 3D structural models for offshore platforms, jackets, foundations and subsea structures.

Job description

Our client, a specialist offshore engineering consultancy, is growing its offshore structures team and is looking for a Senior Structural Design Engineer. You will deliver the 3D models and fabrication drawings for offshore platforms, jackets and foundations across oil and gas, offshore wind and CCUS projects, from concept selection through to construction and installation. You will work closely with discipline engineers and fabrication specialists to make sure every design can be fabricated, transported and installed efficiently. This is a permanent position based in Greater London (UK).

Main Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain detailed 3D structural models for offshore platforms, jackets, foundations, subsea structures and associated equipment
• Produce and review fabrication, assembly, general arrangement and installation drawings in line with project requirements and company standards
• Coordinate with structural engineers and other disciplines (facilities, mechanical, electrical, installation)
• Ensure designs are practical, constructible and aligned with fabrication and installation requirements
• Take part in design and model reviews with internal and external stakeholders
• Prepare material take-offs, bills of materials and drawing registers
• Mentor junior designers and drafters on CAD standards, drawing templates and modelling best practices

Required Skills & Experience

• HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent in Engineering, Structural or Mechanical Design
• 5 to 10 years of structural drafting and 3D modelling experience in the offshore energy sector, working to international codes (API, EN, ISO, DNV, AWS)
• Proven hands-on experience in offshore jacket and/or platform structural design (this is the core requirement for the role)
• Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks or E3D, plus AutoCAD, including large structural assemblies and fabrication drawings. SolidWorks is preferred; PDMS, MicroStation or Tekla is a plus
• Experience producing fabrication details: steelwork assemblies, connections and structural detailing
• Understanding of fabrication, transportation and installation requirements for offshore structures; experience with rig-installed platforms is a plus
• Familiarity with engineering drawing standards and document control processes
• Strong communication skills and attention to detail; mentoring experience is an advantage
