Job Description:

Senior Structural Design Engineer

RPS is seeking a Senior Structural Design Engineer to join our Structures Team. Our Design Division delivers projects across sectors including residential, logistics, retail, aviation, healthcare, education, manufacturing, data centers, and energy, focusing on balancing form and function with sustainability, materiality, cost, and constructability. Digitalisation is central to our approach, enabling clients to experience designs from concept through detailed drawings, leveraging expertise across industries and disciplines.

What you’ll be doing: This role offers career progression within our industry-leading team, known for excellence across all sectors of the built environment. Duties include:

• Assist leadership in managing the structural engineering team
• Manage projects and project teams independently
• Handle financial responsibilities for your projects
• Prepare fee quotations and invoices
• Manage staff and external consultants
• Develop engineering and technical teams
• Collaborate with stakeholders and clients
• Conduct site visits, structural surveys, investigations, and repair schemes

Who we’re looking for: Candidates should have a degree in Civil or Structural Engineering, ideally progressing towards or holding chartership with ICE, IStructE, or equivalent. Additional requirements:

• Experience in designing foundations, masonry, concrete, steel, and timber structures to Eurocodes
• Experience in residential markets, including traditional and framed structures
• Market awareness, financial management skills, and client development experience
• Experience in structural investigations of residential and commercial properties
• Knowledge of the Building Safety Act and related investigations/reporting (preferable)
• Familiarity with Tekla (Design and Tedds) and AutoCAD/Revit
• Strong leadership and decision-making skills
• Motivated, proactive, innovative, and autonomous
