Job summary

NRL is seeking a Senior Stress Engineer for a contract role in Chorley. The position involves producing, reviewing and approving detailed stress calculations and reports to ensure designs meet regulatory and client requirements.

Hybrid work typically comprises two days onsite and two days remote. The ideal candidate has a degree in mechanical engineering, at least five years of stress analysis experience, strong classical and FEA skills, and proficiency with ANSYS and Mathcad.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Minimum five years' stress analysis experience.
  • Strong experience with classical stress calculations and FEA.
  • Knowledge of BS 2573, BS EN 13001 and Eurocodes.
  • Experience using ANSYS and Mathcad.
  • Ability to produce high-quality technical reports.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and supervise detailed stress calculations and analysis reports.
  • Undertake finite element analysis (FEA) and hand calculations.
  • Check and approve calculations completed by other engineers.
  • Provide technical guidance to designers on manufacturability and design improvements.
  • Liaise with clients and subcontractors to define substantiation requirements.
  • Support thermal, fluid and operational assessments.
  • Develop improved calculation methodologies and engineering practices.
