Westlakes Recruit is currently recruiting for an experienced senior stress engineer to join a contract in Derby. Our client’s Stress capability is looking for enthusiastic Senior Stress Engineers. You will report to the Stress Technical Lead and work in an embedded team based at the client’s site in Derby.

Responsibilities
  • Provide integrity substantiation using Finite Element method and/or Code assessment
  • Assist in calculation reviews
  • Perform modelling tasks
  • Adhere to Assystem quality system
  • Manage man-hour budgets for assigned tasks
  • Assist in proposal writing and related bidding activities, if required
  • Ensure analysis work meets quality, time, and cost requirements to help achieve business targets

Qualifications
  • Experience in the nuclear industry, preferably defence, or transferable skills from other disciplines
  • Expertise in fatigue, fracture, thermal, and structural stress assessments using finite element analysis
  • Experience with ABAQUS (explicit/implicit)
  • Knowledge of ABAQUS/CAE or equivalent pre/post-processing tools (desirable)
  • Code assessment knowledge to ASME B&PVC, RCC-M is a plus
  • Knowledge of structural integrity and defect tolerance assessments
  • Python scripting in ABAQUS environment (desirable)
  • Experience with CRACKEN or alternative fracture assessment methods
  • Fatigue crack growth and initiation experience (desirable)
  • Familiarity with Gated review process
