Job summary

City of Wolverhampton Council is seeking a forward‑thinking Strategic Transport Manager to lead on transport strategy, policy, active travel and the development of major programmes for the Black Country. You will hold a degree in a relevant discipline with postgraduate experience; extensive transport strategy and policy experience, plus knowledge of planning and transport legislation.

You will also have proven ability to lead complex projects and deliver results within deadlines.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent in a relevant discipline.
• Postgraduate qualification or equivalent experience.
• Extensive experience in transport strategy and policy environment.
• Detailed knowledge of planning and transport legislation and functions.
• Proven ability to lead complex projects and develop strategies.
• Project management experience.

Responsibilities

• Lead on transport strategy, policy, active travel and development of major transport programmes for four authorities.
• Shape long‑term transport policy and deliver tangible improvements for residents and businesses.
• Coordinate across councils to ensure delivery within planning and transport legislation.
