Job summary

Penguin Recruitment Ltd in Ashby/Birmingham/Manchester area is seeking a Senior to Senior Associate Planner to join a leading UK planning team. The role focuses on delivering comprehensive planning consultancy services across residential, commercial, infrastructure, retail and leisure sectors.

You will manage your own caseload, lead on submissions, mentor junior colleagues and help grow the client base through proactive business development, while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

• MRTPI qualification or APC close to completion.
• Experience in a planning consultancy or relevant planning environment.
• Strong knowledge of the UK planning system and current planning market.
• Experience managing planning applications and delivering planning advice.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects, prioritise workloads and meet deadlines.
• A proactive, self-motivated approach with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Experience mentoring or supporting junior colleagues would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Manage and prioritise your own caseload, delivering high-quality planning advice.
• Undertake site appraisals, initial reviews and develop planning strategies.
• Prepare, submit and manage planning applications across diverse projects.
• Lead on site promotion, submissions and representations.
• Provide bespoke planning advice to achieve best client outcomes.
• Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders.
• Mentor junior members of the planning team and APC candidates.
• Manage project budgets, time recording and invoicing, and identify new business opportunities.
