Job summary

Eastern Shipbuilding Group, Inc. is seeking a Buyer to procure materials, supplies, equipment, and services for our operations. The role requires analyzing price proposals, coordinating with vendors and internal departments, and maintaining vendor performance records.

You will issue RFQs/RFPs, ensure compliance with specifications and company policies, and communicate with the Purchasing Manager and Director. Some local travel may be required and duties may evolve over time.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED plus 3–5 years' Buyer experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook Express.
• Ability to read and interpret general business documents, professional documents, or governmental regulations.
• Ability to present information and respond to questions from employees, vendors, and management.
• Ability to apply common sense to carry out written or oral instructions.
• Ability to perform arithmetic in all units of measure.

• Maintain confidentiality of Eastern Shipbuilding Group.

Responsibilities

• Procure a wide variety of materials, supplies, equipment, and services for Eastern Shipbuilding Group Inc.
• Analyze price proposals and other data to determine reasonable quotes.
• Act as liaison between vendors/suppliers and involved departments to resolve procurement problems.
• Maintain accurate records of vendor/supplier performances.
• Issue RFQs/RFPs and select sources per cost, quality, and delivery with company policies.
• Ensure purchased materials meet specified conditions and standards.
• Communicate with the Purchasing Manager and Director.
• Travel may be required locally.
• Duties may change at any time with notice.
