Job summary

Express Engineering in the North East is looking for an experienced Buyer to manage procurement activities supporting manufacturing builds. You will handle BOM maintenance in the MRP system, issue RFQs, source components, and negotiate prices and lead times to meet contract needs.

Ideal candidates will have experience in engineering procurement, strong communication skills, and proficiency with MS Office, particularly Excel.

Qualifications

• Experience in purchasing/sourcing within manufacturing or engineering environments.
• Purchasing materials in line with MRP/ERP requirements.
• Understanding of engineering BOMs and drawings.
• Ability to communicate at all levels within the business.
• Strong negotiation and supplier relations skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel.

Responsibilities

• Check, create and maintain Bills of Materials in the MRP system.
• Generate and maintain RFQs for procurement needs.
• Source and procure materials, components and services to support MRP/build plans.
• Negotiate lead times and pricing to meet contract requirements.
• Collaborate with buyers to share best practices and manage spend.
• Expedite and control all purchased items; maintain supplier setup and sign-off.
• Update MRP data with supplier feedback and changes.
