This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled individual, with careful attention to detail and a commitment to ensuring regulatory and legislative compliance, to join a team which plays a pivotal role in the Supply and Stores section of the Operational Support Wing at RAF Cosford. The Operational Support Wing is responsible for providing essential support services to enable the effective operation of RAF Cosford and other local training camps. This includes a range of functions such as logistics, equipment maintenance, accommodation, and administrative support.
This Skill Zone 3 position is advertised at 37 hours per week
Job Description
On a day-to-day basis the Senior Storekeeper will work in a busy environment, acting as an interface between the team and an extremely large customer base over multiple sites.
The successful candidate will undertake a variety of tasks, including, but not limited to
- Management of the materiel account and integrity of physical stock and storage regulations, conducting quality assurance activities where required.
- Management of spare parts and components stock for various technical equipment, including paperwork, handling, quality and batch control, storage, issue, and receipt.
- Conduct stocktaking and disposal of technical stock and non-movement items.
- Liaise with inventory holders and nominated suppliers for transactions.
- Act as the supervisor and operator for the freight and packages tracking logistics tool, ensuring to meet regulatory requirements.
- Management of transportation documentation and reports, packaging requirements and raising discrepancy reports and claims against carriers (where required).
- Unloading and unpacking of equipment received from external sources.
- Management of hazardous waste and salvageable scrap commodities, ensuring adherence to environmental regulations and legislation. Act as a team member within the site Spillage Response Team.
- Undertake driving duties of the section vehicle and forklift truck. Operate material handling equipment where required.
- Supervisory responsibility of a small team of Skill Zone 2 Storekeepers.

Person specification
This role is suited to someone who has proven experience in a logistics and/or warehouse environment, with to ability to balance changing priorities and to work with autonomy. They will have strong communication and attention to detail skills, to be able to liaise effectively with stakeholders across the station and externally to the organisation.
Essential Criteria
- Full UK Driving license
- Previous experience of supervising employees and/or delegating workload.
- Previous experience of working in a logistics and/or warehouse environment.
Desirable Criteria
- Forklift Operator training (training will be provided if not already held).
- Material Handling Equipment training (training will be provided if not already held).
- Visibility in Transit Asset Logging System (VITAL) course – if not already held, this will need to be completed within 6 months of taking up the position.

Where business needs allow, some roles may be suitable for a combination of office and home-based working. This is a non-contractual arrangement where all office-based employees will be expected to spend a minimum of 60% of their working time in office, subject to capacity and any required workplace adjustments.
