The Princess Grace Hospital - 42-52 Nottingham Pl, London W1U 5NY

Permanent, Full-time, 37.5 hours/week. Monday to Friday, 2pm-10pm with possible Saturday shifts as over time . Flexibility will be required to cover other shifts when required

Salary –Up to £28,708 per annum + Benefits (pension, health cover, flexible benefits and excellent career development)

We have an exciting role for a Senior Sterile Services Technician to join our team at The Princess Grace Hospital. You will Demonstrate advanced knowledge, experience, and responsibility in the field of sterile processing, leading the work of other employees by assisting with annual competence assessments, preparing staffing schedules, conducting and documenting staff training programs, and hosting staff huddles and meetings in the absence of a supervisor

What you'll do:

  • Ensures that the policies, procedures, and practices of the Sterile Processing department comply with the standards established by all regulatory agencies
  • Supports a variety of operating room service lines, including aesthetic, ENT, ophthalmology, plastics, trauma, general surgery, urology, kidney, & liver transplant, OB/Gynaecology, neurosurgery, orthopaedics, and/or peripheral vascular
  • Cleans, decontaminates, inspects, and assembles a high variety of complex surgical instruments and instrument sets, Da Vinci robotic instruments
  • Oversees the operation and troubleshooting of cleaning, disinfection, and sterilization of equipment such as trolleys, washers/decontaminators, steam sterilizers, and hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) sterilizers
  • Advises customers on proper cleaning, packaging, and sterilization techniques appropriate to the items being reprocessed
  • Follows up on recalls if any items do not meet the standards for sterilization. This includes verifying that autoclave cycles are complete, notifying the supervisor of possible contamination of the items on the affected load, and maintaining appropriate documentation of actions taken to comply with regulatory agencies
  • Identifies staff training needs and collaborates with leaders and educators to provide guidance and support for staff education and certification

What you'll bring:

  • Extensive experience working in a sterile services department
  • Knowledge of relevant hospital policies and procedures either within the NHS or private hospital setting
  • Health and Safety training including Lifting and Handling training
  • A real team player who has excellent communication, attention to detail and the ability to recognise and report faults in equipment
