Job summary

National Highways is seeking a Senior Statistician to join the Customer, Strategy and Communications team. You will analyse performance data for England's motorways and major A roads, develop forecasting models, and produce clear reports for non-technical audiences.

The role requires strong communication skills and the ability to advise across the organisation. You will be based at one of several locations (Birmingham, Exeter, Guildford, Bedford or Manchester) with monthly travel to Birmingham

Qualifications

• Formal statistical training (degree in statistics, mathematics, economics, science or similar).
• Excellent communication style with ability to present to varied audiences.
• Track record of collaborating with stakeholders.
• Experience with forecasting methods desirable.
• Experience designing analyses to inform decision making.
• Experience using Python for statistical data analysis.

Responsibilities

• Lead statistical analyses on the performance of England's motorways and major A roads.
• Develop forecasting models for performance metrics on National Highways' machine learning platform.
• Produce analytically robust reports and outputs communicating insights clearly to non-analysts.
• Provide high-quality statistical advice and guidance across the organisation.
