Role Summary

As a Senior Static Mechanical Engineer at Mitsubishi Chemical, you will be a subject matter expert responsible for your field. You will ensure that project objectives are met, working with static equipment such as reactors, distillation/separation columns, and heat exchangers. This role offers an excellent opportunity to join a team working towards a common goal.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as Subject Matter Expert for the Global Strategic Project; ensure the technical integrity of static mechanical equipment and packages, verifying correct installation per manufacturer and design specifications.
  • Approve Technical Bid Evaluations and recommendations for the project.
  • Provide technical guidance and support to engineering contractors.
  • Assist in vendor identification, assessment, and selection for static mechanical equipment, packaged or not.
  • Specify and procure technically robust and cost-effective equipment/packages, liaising with process licensors and project team members.
  • Support plant commissioning activities at the site.
  • Define quality requirements, inspections, test plans, and acceptance criteria for equipment specifications.

  • Strong people management and influencing skills.
  • Willingness to be internationally mobile.
  • Good knowledge of the global supply base, including engineering contractors, equipment vendors, and fabricators.
  • Motivated with the ability to adapt to challenges.

Qualifications/Experience

  • Extensive static mechanical engineering experience in the chemicals or petrochemicals industry and complex projects.
  • Degree qualified (or equivalent), UK Chartered mechanical engineer preferred.
  • Experience with complex engineering issues involving design contractors, process licensors, vendors, and site reps.
  • Willingness to travel to various locations.
